Dimapur | March 5
Rockslides continue to hamper ongoing work for the Dimapur to Kohima 4-lane while also hindering vehicular traffic in the crucial NH 29. On March 5, a section of a cliff caved in some 2km away from the Chümoukedima Police Checkpost.
It occurred around 4:00-4:30pm bringing traffic to a standstill. According to the Traffic police, around 200m of the highway was blocked by rock debris. There was no report of any casualty however.
“It will likely be cleared by tonight,” said a police official on site.
Meanwhile, the Dimapur Police issued an advisory in the evening via Twitter asking commuters to take the Niuland-Zhadima and Jalukie-Pimla routes for the next 12 hours.
