Landslide inundates Tesophenyu-Wozhuro road

Kohima, September 21 (MExN): A road link of Tesophenyu under Kohima district and Wozhuro range under Wokha district was heavily inundated by landslide due to torrential rainfall on September 20.  

Informing this in a press release, Tesophenyu Group Public Union and Tesophenyu Group Students' Union stated that the damaged road has completely cut off plying of vehicles and movement of people causing untold hardship for commuters which is the lifeline of the two groups and range. Approximately 400 metres of the area has been devastated and 200 metres are still in a risky zone. It also stated that the areas are vulnerable to landslide needing urgent intervention of the concerned authority. The council along with the public had extended help for road restoration even in the past years. The road condition worsened usually during rainy reason every year. However, the present disaster is beyond the limitations of the community which has caused extreme rage and fury for maintenance and restoration.  

While appealing for better road, the two organisations added that “Good roads are sources of an asset to the society for security, stability and peace. It is also a sign of development, progress and advancement of a particular community and Nagas in general.”
