Heavy rainfall and subsequent landslides caused damage to property in several areas of Kiphire on August 9.    . 

The road between Kiphire to Pungro has been totally cut off and the road leading to Seyochung town from Kiphire has also been completely blocked off after the rains. Houses were also damaged in several wards of Kiphire—1 at High School, 2 at Jail Ward, and 3 at Medical Ward.  Property damages were also reported from Kipongya Ward, Forest Ward, Longya Ward and Mission Compound.

Ward officials and district disaster management authorities have visited the affected families and taken stock of the damages caused, while informing that necessary relief measures are being arranged. According to sources, the total damaged property is in the Crores. 

In addition, many wards have reported landslide near road areas and drainages.

The lifeline road leading to Pungro area was also damaged critically due to a landslide, shutting the highway at an instant.

Langkok village, which is approximately 15 km from the district headquarters, also reported heavy landslides on its highway. 

The road leading to Kiphire Cemetery was also cut off by a landslide, while the drainage at Mission Compound was flooded.
