Langpangkong range raises voice against poor quality of work along NH 61

Mokokchung, July 1 (MExN): People of Langpangkong range under Mokokchung district have alleged poor workmanship at the on-going two lane construction of National Highway-61. 


A press release issued by Marsanen Imsong, Convenor of the Road Coordination Committee of Langpangkong Tzukong Mungdang (Langpangkong Range Peoples Conference) stated that the range people have expressed anguish over the poor quality work despite repeated appeals for skilled workmanship as per the detailed project report (DPR). 


It stated that Sri Avantika Contractors (l) Ltd based in Hyderabad (and Vertex Company based in Nagaland) are currently employed in the two lane construction of NH-61 at the jurisdiction of Mongsenyimti, Chuchuyimlang and Unger villages under Langpangkong range of Mokokchung. 


According to the release, a joint team of Langpangkong Tzukong Mungdang led its President, the President and senior members of the Langpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang (Langpangkong Students’ Conference), Road Coordination Committee of LTM led by the Convenor, Chairmen and Village Council members of Mongsenyimti, Chuchuyimlang and Unger villages made a surprise visit to the work site. The team checked on the on-going construction works at NH-2 (between Mokokchung and Tuli) and NH-702C (between Merangkong and Tamlu) under its jurisdiction on June 30, it said. 


The spot inspection was followed by a meeting and the members present discussed at length about the poor workmanship of NH-2 construction. As per the release, discontentment over the poor quality of goods supplied specially in the construction of breast and retaining walls were discussed during the meeting. Several members also expressed displeasure over the sub-standard and poor quality of work, it said. Some of the members expressed apprehension over the random operation of construction work which has led to several massive landslides along the National Highway, severely affecting both public and private properties which were uncompensated. 


The joint team appealed the authority concerned to look into the matter and rectify the erroneous workmanship for the benefit of the people at large. The meeting resolved to stand firm and demand better work quality as per the DPR and further urged the firms involved to deliver service to the full satisfaction of the people. 


Meanwhile, the Langpangkong people have expressed appreciation to the Keystone Infra Ltd (based in Hyderabad) for rendering good workmanship in constructing the on-going NH-702C between Merangkong and Tamlu town and appealed the firm to continue the same service.
