Language is humanity's true identity: Former NLA Speaker

The quarterly journal ‘Chokri Jüye Da’ released by CCLB outgoing Chairman Ariyi Nienu.

Chozuba, July 18 (MExN): Former Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Dr Chotisuh Sazo today stressed that “language is the real identity of humanity.” 

He was addressing the 15th general session of the Chokri Chakhesang Literature Board (CCLB) as the guest speaker under the theme, ‘Language is the first identity’ held at the Multi-Purpose Hall of Govt High School Japan Riba, Chozuba on July 18. 

Emphasising the necessity of keeping oneself intact with one’s language, Sazo said, “Speaking mother tongue at the family platform is the key factor to promote and preserved our language and updated with our identity.”

He also appealed the members present to seriously take the “upcoming of Census drive” probably to be scheduled in 2027.

An update received here stated that in the theme session, Shekholu Tetseo, Research Associate, SCERT, Nagaland, dwelt on, “Promoting Language” while Zachilhu R Vadeo, Convenor Core Committee, spoke on, “Chokri Language: Developmental activities”. Dr Zokho Venuh, Principal, Capital College of Higher Education, Kohima moderate the session. 

Meanwhile, a new team of office bearers for the tenure 2025-2027 was installed with the following: Chairman - Vekhozo Ringa; Vice Chairmen - Vethikhoyi Khamo (Gen. Administration) and Khrusahu Rhakho  (Gospel Literature); General Secretary (Admn) - Dr Vekhruzo Keyho; General Secy (Tech) - Thekuvelu Sakhamo; Finance Secretary - Vekhosa Nakro; Treasurer - Kevesho Tetseo.

A quarterly Journal “Chokri Jüye Da” in Chokri language which was prepared by CCLB was officially released by outgoing Chairman Ariyi Nienu. 

Around 300 people registered for the session. CCLB 15th general session was sponsored by Kuzholuzo Nienu, MLA & Leader of NPF Legislature Party.
