Dimapur, October 6 (MExN): The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is currently rolling out an innovative electronic vaccine intelligence network called eVIN across all districts in Nagaland. eVIN aims to support the Government of India’s Universal Immunization Programme by providing real-time information on vaccine stocks and flows, and storage temperatures across all cold chain points in Nagaland.
eVIN in Nagaland The inaugural programme for the last batch training on eVIN for Cold Chain Handlers commenced for Mokokchung and Mon Districts with 50 participants on September 6 and 7 at Hotel De Oriental Grand. The programme was chaired by PO Egumsing Nsarangbe UNDP while a short exhortation was shared by Dr. Limaakum Jamir, Additional Director, DoH&FW, Nagaland. Word of encouragement was given by Dr. Visasieü Kire State Immunisation Officer to the participants followed by vote of thanks by Mr. Kingson Kamkara, Senior Project Officer, UNDP Nagaland. Abhimanyu Saxena Senior Project Officer – Vaccine Logistics & Cold Chain GAVI Health System Strengthening UNDP from National Office was present as an observer.
In Nagaland, more than 250 government staff including vaccine store-keepers and cold chain handlers is being trained on mobile and Web-based eVIN application. Nearly 150 temperature loggers will be installed at over 130 vaccine stores and cold chain points in all 11districts for accurate temperature review.
Roll-out underway in states across India
In addition to these states, eVIN is being rolled-out in 211 districts of Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Manipur, Nagaland and Odisha. In doing so, eVIN will support better vaccine logistics management at more than 10,000 cold chain points reaching out to nearly 60 percent of children under the age of two in the country.
