Law enforcement agencies need public support: Dy CM Patton

The new office building of the Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung was inaugurated by Y Patton, Deputy Chief Minister, Home & Border Affairs, Government of Nagaland on August 2. 

The dedication plaque was unveiled by the special guest, after which the inaugural programme was held at DIG Range Conference Hall, Mokokchung Compound.

Addressing the gathering, Y Patton stated that it is imperative for law enforcement agencies to serve and assure justice and protection, but to do so they need the support and cooperation of the public. While emphasising that Mokokchung is a pioneer in many fields, he added that it is also the “only District that has no illegal immigrants,” which he said is “commendable.”

Further, he mentioned the menace of drug peddlers in Nagaland and informed that Wokha has the highest number of drug peddlers, followed by Mokokchung. He sought the help and cooperation of civil society in fighting this menace.

Renchamo Kikon IPS, Additional Director General of Police (Administration) in his short speech explained how the District Executive Force needs the assistance and cooperation of the civil groups. “It is a team effort,” he said, “while they are in the lead, civil society must help strengthen the District police's hands.”

The report on the building construction was given by Kito Anche, EE, PEP, Alichen. The inaugural programme was attended by Metsubo Jamir, Minister of Rural Development and other legislators, including SP Mokokchung and All Ranks of DEF Mokokchung, SP of neighbouring districts Zunheboto and Longleng, Civil societies , Village councils, and other political party leaders.
