Law students conduct moot court to hone legal skills

KOHIMA, MAY 19 (MExN): Kohima Law College conducted moot court (artificial court) at its auditorium on May 17 as part of university practical examination for the LL.B final (6th semester) year students.  

As per Nagaland University syllabus where 30(thirty) marks is allotted for LL.B final year, the Kohima Law College conducted three several moot court consisting of cases such as civil, election and criminal (hypothetical cases) under the teacher-in-charge of Assistant Professor Kezhokhoto Savi , a press release issued by media cell, Kohima Law College informed. 

In his speech, Savi said ‘integrity,’ ‘hard working’ and ‘honesty’ are considered to be the three most essential pillar to become a successful lawyer in modern society and the purpose of organising and conducting moot court is to help the law students to become a successful lawyer in future.

Through the moot court, students may learn the good knowledge of legal language, speaking, appearance before the court and good knowledge of common sense and behavior, he highlighted. Moot court means an artificial court and it gives confidence to the students to conduct cases in future when they are called upon to do so in their professional life. 

On the occasion, 62 mooter divided into two team participated and argued on the points of law. 

Moot court is part of Bar Council of India Practical Papers (clinical education course).
