Kohima, May 13 (MExN): Law students of the Kohima Law College Evangelical Union were encouraged to bring in a ‘new moral fibre’ in the Naga society during the EU’s thanksgiving programme on May 12.

Assistant Professor Kezhokhoto Savi drew parallels from four major crisis periods in American history and asked the young law students to ponder upon the crisis in the Naga society.

‘We also need a moral revival. We need a spiritual revival that will put a new moral fibre into our society, or we will have collapsed internally before any enemies get here,’ Savi said, underscoring that one of the greatest enemies of the Naga society was the General Legislative Assembly election where ‘we have seen that money had been placed at the top and God at the bottom.’

According to a press release from the KLC Media Cell, Savi urged the law students to play a major role for clean election movement. ‘Clean election is the call of all the people to commit themselves to consciously elect their leaders with integrity without being manipulated through corruption or other unhealthy means,’ he said, terming it as ‘the need of the hour to rebuild our beloved Nagaland.’

Stating that it is high time the citizens of the state ‘come to the foot of the cross,’ Savi maintained that God does not look upon the outward appearance but the heart. ‘God is looking for real and genuine repentance. To whom much is given, much is required. Much is given to us, and much shall be required for our society,’ he added. According to Savi, the Bible says that one should be humble and that ‘No man or woman can come to the kingdom of God proudly.’

Earlier the programme was led by Botoholi; Rachel Tsanglao said the invocation; scripture portion was read by Kezhabu and Grace Namgi; and offertory prayer by Lemchimong. Several special numbers were presented along with thanksgiving prayer by prayer secretary, and Imlirenla said the benediction, the release stated.
