LBCA urges Naga people to choose right leaders

Dimapur, February 15 (MExN): The upcoming election in Nagaland is an opportunity for justice and peace to prevail among the Christian Naga community and the Naga voters must exercise their responsibility in electing the right individuals.

Stating this in a press release received here on Wednesday, Tssocholan Lotha Baptist Churches Association (LBCA) Executive Secretary Rev Dr Ezamo Murry emphasised the importance of choosing leaders who are God-fearing and people-friendly while highlighting the negative consequences of voters selling their votes including the misuse of community development funds and neglect of important public services such as schools and medical centers. The blame, he said, was placed squarely on those who sell their votes, rather than on the elected leaders themselves.

“The public has now shifted their judgment not to the elected leaders but to those irresponsible voters who sell their vote to relinquish their right of electing the right leaders,” the release stated.

Urging both candidates and voters to prioritise God's will in the election process, it cautioned contestants against using unethical means to win votes and encouraged voters to exercise their right to vote in a fair and clean manner.

The LBCA further emphasised the spiritual rewards of choosing the right leaders, even if they don't win the election, and urged voters to insist on a clean and fair election process and to invoke God's blessing on their future and the future of their community.
