Dimapur, May 19 (MExN): The Life Consumer Society & RTI Dimapur Unit has sought clarification from Marcofed on the implementation of Village Grain Bank scheme (VGB), central sponsored scheme.
VGB scheme was launched for some chronically food scarce areas like the draught/natural calamity prone areas and the far-flung inaccessible hilly areas where access to food then remained a problem.
LCS & RTI Dimapur District general secretary Khevito Chishi and Press Secretary Vitohe Yeptho in a press note stated the Marcofed was the then implementing agency of the scheme for the period 2006-07 and 2009-10 to 2012-13 for establishment of VGB and distribution of food grains free of cost. The LCS & RTI Dimapur District “intervene and seek clarification for failure of VGB scheme from the Marcofed, since we have come to know recently through filing of RTI and received the information and documents from reliable sources.”
