DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 7 (MExN): The Lüruri Development Council (LDC) today accused one Major Lopong of the GPRN/NSCN for allegedly making a “murder attempt” on Shaphongtsü, President of the LDC on November 4. A press release from the LDC General Secretary alleged that prior to the incident; the council had banned the movement of vehicles/trucks with pinewood from beyond the Tizu River.
It however accused the Major of violating this directive and “forcefully” employing people to collect pinewood. When, as per the standing order, the LDC stopped the truck and unloaded the pinewood, it alleged that the Major threatened the council President and General Secretary. The LDC informed that the Major had threatened the two council office bearers over the phone several times before the November 4 incident. It demanded that the GPRN/NSCN leadership take strict disciplinary action against the Major within eleven days from the publication of this press release. Failure to do so, it cautioned, would compel the LDC not to cooperate with the GPRN/NSCN.
“Till such a time the issue is settled peacefully, movement of either vehicle or people shall be strictly prohibited between Mimi and Laruri road,” it informed.
