LDPN questions DMC on RST collection

DIMAPUR, JULY 30 (MExN): The Liberal Democratic Party of Nagaland (LDPN) today issued an open letter to the Dimapur Municipal Council on the issue regarding the latter’s recent decision to collect Rs 40 monthly as Residential Sanitation Tax (RST) from each household starting from August.

The LDPN asked the DMC “as per the RTI ACT,” whether the DMC has the logistics worked out for the total amount of Rs. 30 that will be submitted to the DMC for maintenance of vehicles, payments of salaries to drivers and labors and POL expenditure, and the remaining that will be kept by the ward sanitation committee for work purposes.

“It would also be helpful if you would also show us the data on how you would manage to provide household waste collection services, to the public. We would like to review the process only to assure that the public received the right services. And if you have already come up with the statistic then we request your kind authority to announce that you have the logistics worked out, in the daily papers, as every case has to be reviewed and sought as per the court of law so that the people get the right justice,” the LDPN requested.
