DIMAPUR: In a first of its kind initiative by the Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union (DSSU), a three-day Science Teachers’ Training cum Students’ Workshop is underway at Holy Cross Higher Secondary School Dimapur.

Science, being generally described as a ‘memory subject,’ the initiative is themed as, ‘learning science without memorizing.’ Three resource persons from Maharashtra namely; Vinayak Shamrao Dixit, Sharad Narayan Godse and Achyut Vishnu Sapre are conducting the seminar and workshop which started on Tuesday.
The seminar focuses on training the teachers, equipping them with student friendly teaching process covering different topics under science. The students’ workshop is being conducted based on theory, practical and experiments in chemistry, physics, electronics etc.
Altogether, 32 Science teachers and hundreds of students are taking part in the seminar and workshop which will conclude on Thursday. The programme is being organized by DSSU in collaboration with Indigenous Cultural Society and Jan Jati Vikas Samiti.
