Dimapur, September 21 (DIPR): A legal awareness program under the theme “Know your Rights” organized by the Nagaland State Commission for women (NSCW) in collaboration with National Commission for Women, New Delhi and co-ordinated by Watsu Mongdang was held at Town Hall, Mokokchung on 21st September 2011.
Chairperson NSCW, Sano Vamuzo in her keynote address touched on the needs and responsibilities of women to be aware of their rights in order to safeguard themselves and also to uplift the status in the society. The resource persons in the program were Public Prosecutor Mokokchung Marlemba and SDPO Mokokchung Vikram Khalare. The topics “Statutory Rights of Women” and “Protection of Women from Domestic Violence” and “Role of Police in Safeguarding Womens Rights” were delivered by the resource persons. Earlier in the program ADC (Dev.), Mokokchung Y.Denngan Avennoho delivered a short speech while vote of thanks was proposed by Ellen Konyak, member NSCW. The program was chaired by Abeni TCK, member NSCW.
