Legal Services Authority holds outreach camps in Shamator, Noklak

Shamator, March 6 (MExN): The Tuensang District Legal  Services Authority (TDLSA) in collaboration with Shamator district administration organised a free legal camp in Shamator on March 6.

In his address as the special guest, Neiko Akami, NJS, Member Secretary of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA), underlined that the responsibility of legal service institutions is to reach out to the citizens directly by meeting them person to person, ensuring that legal awareness reaches the grassroots.

At the same time, Akami appreciated the efforts of the Shamator District Administration, noting that its “Governance to the Doorstep” initiative reflects the spirit of bringing services closer to the people.

Likewise, he further highlighted issues relating to sexual exploitation, harassment, disabilities and mental illness, and explained how the rights of affected individuals can be protected under the law. He also elaborated on the provisions under the Victim Compensation Scheme 2012 and the mechanisms available for victims to seek justice and assistance.

Deputy Commissioner of Shamator, Chubatemjen in his address, thanked the visiting legal team for educating the public, while asserting that the aspiration of society is to move towards a just, responsible and equal community.

According to him, the objective of the legal camp was to promote empowerment through legal education, as envisioned in the Constitution of India, and to provide citizens with the opportunity to understand legal parameters in the workplace and beyond. He encouraged participants and the public to strive towards gaining legal knowledge, accessing avenues for speedy justice, and aspiring towards a paradigm shift in the delivery and understanding of justice.

The programme was chaired by Dr Birila, Panel Lawyer, while the invocation was pronounced by Pastor Inavi Aye. The vote of thanks was delivered by Kumdilong Kessen, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority.

NOKLAK: The Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) in collaboration with the Tuensang District Legal Services Authority (TDLSA) and the District Administration, Noklak organised a Mini Legal Services Camp at the DC’s Conference Hall, Noklak on March 5.

Deputy Commissioner of Noklak, P Mono Khiamniungan requested the legal services authority to organise such programmes in the Sub-Divisions of the district in the near future.

Delivering his key note address, Member Secretary, Neiko Akami, NJS highlighted the purpose of conducting the legal camp in the district. He also spoke about the services delivery offered by the Legal Services Authority like Legal Aid, Victim Compensations, Lok Adalat, etc.

Secretary, TDLSA, Kumdilong Kessen, NJS, briefed about various departments participated in the camp and the free services provided by them. He thanked Member Secretary, NSLSA and Deputy Commissioner of Noklak for approving the platform to conduct the Mini Legal Services Camp in the District.

The programme was chaired by Muthiam, Front Office, PLV and invocation was led by A Penglang, Pastor, Noklak Town Baptist Church. This was followed by inauguration of the Mini Legal Services Camp.
