PHEK, OCTOBER 31 (DIPR): Lemon Grass Distillation Unit was inaugurated at Murusou near Khumiasu Village under Phek District on 30th October 2007. The Unit was installed by Murusou SHG and sponsored by Land Resources Development Department, Phek. The Deputy Commissioner Phek Maongwati Aier graced the occasion as a chief guest.
In his address, the DC said that a big developmental process had been achieved for entire Phek district through the setting up of the Lemon Grass distillation unit because that can boost our economy. He called upon the Nagas to develop work ethics and work culture. He lamented that Nagaland has a very low percent in self employment compared to other states like Assam, Meghalaya etc for which he called SHGs and small scale industries to gear up and give more effort in their projects in order to solve unemployment problem in Nagaland. While lauding the SHG for their tireless effort he said that our forefathers were hard working people and called upon the present generation to follow this fine tradition.
A brief history of the distillation unit was delivered by Puvil Kikhi, District Project Officer, Land Resources Development, Phek. Short speech was given by Haokothang Singson SDO (Civil).The inaugural function was chaired by Shietsutho.
