Viswema Village | June 3
After a month long camping at Viswema village, NSCN/GPRN Ato Kilonser Th. Muivah today made his exit from the village and headed towards Pfutsero in Phek district, where as per the MIP sources a reception for Muivah will be organized at Pfutsero tomorrow.
Muivah while addressing a small formal farewell function here at the community hall pointed out that Viswema marks a milestone village in Naga history where this very village had contributed enormously in the process of Naga sovereignty in many aspects since time immemorial. Stating that his message to the people was “Let the entire Naga people be reconciled from among themselves forgetting the past mistakes so as to strengthen the peace talks thereby fulfilling the long Indo-Naga political issue to become a reality very soon.”
Acknowledging the people of Viswema, Ato Kilonser stated that the wonderful hospitality, cooperation shown to him and his entourage during the month long stay will ever remain cherished in the hearts of the Naga people adding that he would carry the spirit of hospitality of Viswema village wherever he goes and in the meantime would convey the same to others as part of promoting the hospitality in the land of the Nagas.
Muivah also handed over an appreciation certificate to the Village Council Viswema from the office of the NSCN/GPRN.
The village of Viswema provides a platform where I could feel myself being at home and also having an opportunity of sharing my views to the people, stated Muivah. Reminding himself of his old days during his trip to China and some years spending life in the thick jungles, Mauivah maintained that “the village’s contribution in the process of Naga freedom struggle gave me strength to deal with any kind of arising situation”.
Stressing on his proposed visit/camp at Pfutsero under Phek District, he said, despite certain sections of people opposing his entry into the land of Chakhesang he would proceed straight away to Pfutsero as per the scheduled programme adding that an arrangement in this regard was already prepared. Commenting on his proposed visit he said he does not bother about the opposition stating that he will be visiting the place under peace mission on behalf of the government. He said, he would go the Chakhesangs, Sumis, Aos etc saying that it’s high time for the government to have a good interaction with the people and get their views from the grass root level.
On the sideline of the function, when asked what he had to say on the recently concluded peace talks held for the first time at Naga soil, Muivah responded that that “they had a good deliberation on certain points/issues confronting Naga sovereignty”.
He also said that the talks also “viewed some positive steps initiated by the GoI and added that reconciliation among the Nagas is being observed as a major step”.
The Village council chairman of Viswema while wishing the Ato Kilonser Th. Muivah and his entourage safety in their assigned schedules, assured that, as far as Viswema village is concerned, ‘we will always be under the banner of unity and will be praying for early unification of all Nagas forgetting the past mistakes thereby paving a way for early solution of the old Indo-Naga political issue’.
Following his exit from Viswema today he said he will be attending the reception ceremony to be held at Pfutsero tomorrow. Muivah, however did not comment further on where he will be taking shelter for the day and night. Among the several Kilonsers and Dy. Kilonsers present on the occasion, Retd. General VS Atem, Convenor Ceasefire Monitoring Cell, Dr. Atha Vizol, ex-candidate from Viswema village attended the formal gathering.
