It is very clear that Nagas are a distinct people by Race, Tradition, Culture and Religion. There was/is no historical or political relationship whatsoever with neighbouring India or Myanmar. We the Nagas had never been under any other country power at any point of time. But the Indian armed forces came and started attacking the Nagas by using military force in 1954. During that period our brothers, sisters and parents were tortured and mercilessly killed by Indian Armed Forces. Where more than one lakh Nagas people lost their lives.
When the conflict between the two nations (Nagaland and India) is yet to end, damnably, Th-Muivah dissociated himself of NNC and formed the so-called NSCN in 1980. That created all sorts of confusion and the NSCN armed men killed NNC/FGN leaders, national workers and the Naga public in Eastern Sector of Nagaland and later on spread to Western side of Nagaland too. And it is still going on and that saddened the Nagas till date.
For our better understanding, let us look back into the past history of our nation and its events. It is remarkably well known of International Cease-Fire Agreement of 1964 and Peace Accord of 1975 and its implementation thereof was not opposed by anyone who knows Naga stand rather with the concord of Manipur state government, two Peace Camps have been set up namely: Chiulon Peace Camp in Zeliangrong Region (Tamenglong Dist.) and Shazauba Peace Camp in Shepoumaramth Region (Senapati Dist.). And Mrs. B.P. Singh was appointed as a chairman to look after the two Peace Camps as mentioned here on and he did it well as appointed.
Repeating to make it clear that; while Chiulon Peace Camp residents were preparing to celebrate the 39th Nagaland Independence Day on 14th August, 1985, the so-called NSCN armed cadres attacked Chiulon Peace Camp and burned down completely and the worst of all was that, four Naga National Workers (NNC/FGN) have been killed on the spot on 14th August, 1985. The are:
1. Eno Pouzelungbe, 35 years, S/o Kurangbe, Nianglo Village, Court member
2. Eno Roukam, 50 yrs, S/o Kaiping, Chingkhonglong Village, Rana Peyu
3. Eno Namsongdinang, 20 yrs, S/o Abut Longjan Village
4. Pte. Ikuabambe, 28 yrs, S/o Ingou, Rasuangram Village.
But now the NSCN-IM has begun to observe 14th August as Naga National Day and honoring the historic day of NNC/FGN. It is a fraud to betray the Nagas again as there is no way to go further. In this way the unfair agent of the aggressor and its ugly act is very much active at present. Therefore every right thinking Naga citizen must be vigilant at this critical juncture and discern the right and the wrong. Which alone will save our nation from the chaos of the enemy and its agent. It is the bounden responsibility of every Naga whether he/she is young or old. Because every Naga who is born of the Naga blood is an NNC member by consent and practice ever since the Naga people constituted NNC in 1946. So let us choose the right alone and march forward our final goal, lest we fall.
May the Almighty God give us “Real Peace and Unity”
Saphulak,
President,
Zeliangrong Regional Council
Naga National Council (NNC)
