DIMAPUR, MARCH 28 (MExN): Deeply appreciating the concern shown for the Nagas by Baptist pastors in the US, the Nagaland Baptist Church Council on Wednesday replied to the Americans through a note of gratitude.
“Your belief that ‘this is a God-given moment and opportunity for reconciliation and unity that could usher in peace’ fully echoes what NBCC and all the different Christian churches across the Naga homeland are striving to achieve to enable all Nagas who have suffered together to work out a common consensus for an honourable and workable settlement, acceptable to all Nagas and India,” NBCC General Secretary Zhabu Terhüja stated in the reply.
The booklet, Nagaland Baptist Church Council’s Proposal for Healing and Reconciliation of the Naga People, has also been forwarded along with the reply which says, “The baffling existential challenges from a rapidly changing world forcing us also to adequately respond to them at a time when we have other formidable problems to overcome for our survival, have compounded the present crisis for our people.”
Terhüja further said the letter “strongly confirms our own firm vision and conviction despite our failure to make sufficient headway so far.”
