Highlighting the Poor Road Condition in Dimapur

Dear Editor,
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities towards the bad condition of roads in our state. Many roads in Dimapur suffer from potholes, uneven surfaces and poor drainage, leading to water logging during the monsoon. As we all have already witnessed the flood which occurred in G.S Road and Midland due to improper drainage systems and pathetic road condition making driving difficult, uncomfortable and dangerous. Dimapur being a major urban center , experiences significant traffic congestion because of poor road condition and potholes , due to which there is delay in reaching their workplace . The condition of the road is not only causing damage to the vehicles  but also poses a serious safety hazard, especially for school children, the elderly and daily commuters . Not only in Dimapur but the roads in almost all districts is terrible, it has been neglected or left uneven for many years .The government should not give any fake promises instead it is the time that the government take their job seriously in taking effective measures for road development.

Some positive suggestions to the government of Nagaland regarding this issues is to ensure Regular Maintenance & Monitoring which establish a systematic schedule for road maintenance and repairs. Use drones or sensors to monitor road conditions and identify issues such as potholes , fix road edges to prevent further deterioration, Reconstruct – completely rebuild the road, including its foundation, for long term damage, install or clean drains ,culverts and gutters to prevent water logging. Emergency Response plans – develop rapid teams for immediate road repairs and ensure proper signage during maintenance to avoid traffic delays and accidents. And lastly budget allocation which is the most important of all as it ensures sufficient funding for road maintenance and improvement of projects. By following the above suggestions the government can improve road conditions, reduce accidents, and promote long term sustainability.

Yours sincerely,
