Lhisemia youths for crackdown on illegal Bangladeshi-immigrants

Warns against employing, harboring or guaranteeing ‘citizenship’

Kohima, June 18 (MExN): The Lhisemia Youth Organization (LYO), Kohima while reminding the public that resolutions made in regard to illegal immigrants within its traditional jurisdiction remains binding, warned that anyone found employing, harboring or acting as guarantor to illegal immigrants particularly Bangladesh nationals, would be severely penalized.

The organization warned individuals/public in the area found employing, harboring or acting as guarantors to any Bangladeshis emigrants within the traditional jurisdiction area would be penalized as per the rules and regulations of the LYO. The organization warned that defaulters shall be held entirely responsible for any of their conduct. “Most of these Bangladeshis emigrants’ Inner Line Permit (ILP) papers carry only abbreviated alphabet name of their local guarantor. It has come to the notice of the public that some unscrupulous local people earn money by acting as local guarantors,” LYO President Katsukhrie Kesiezie and General Secretary Akhrie Yhome stated.

The organization further warned the public against employing laborers from Karimganj, Silchar, Tripura and some parts of Assam. Relatively, it also expressed displeasure at the District Administration for the way Inner Line Permits are “issued in a casual way.” While relating the events of the recent robbery case in Kohima where some Bangladeshi immigrants and a Nepali were caught stealing building materials by the Kohima Village Youth and the police near New Secretariat Complex recently, the LYO asked the District Administration to provide detailed information of their local guarantors.

The LYO also informed particularly contractors and individuals who reside or are engaged in construction works within the L. Khel traditional jurisdiction area. The organization took strong exception that the activities of the illegal immigrant in the area for the past few years have gone beyond ‘human tolerance.’

“It will not be out of place to state that every resolution passed by the Kohima Village is for the interest of all the Nagas. For that matter, every resolution is binding even to all the people of Kohima,” the organization asserted. It appealed to all responsible citizens of Kohima town area to respect the resolutions laid down by the LYO for employing and renting out their building premises to Bangladeshi emigrants.

They reminded “everyone that the rule is there for everyone irrespective of tribe, religion, relationship or status in a society.” The organization also regretted that in spite of so many publicities and public awareness created by LYO through repeated press releases and actions during the last two three years, it found some responsible people from “our own society still defying our directives.”

“It is our humble expectation that if any responsible non-profit making NGO make an effort to bring out a better and safer place for our people to live in, those of us who cannot shoulder such responsibilities should at least contribute our support by way of heading their directives/appeal to make it a success” LYO reminded.

“The LYO extend our humble service to any organization /government agency for any service wanting in order to make Kohima our capital a better safer place for its entire denizen to live in. Whatsoever mistake happened in Assam and Tripura will not be repeated here in Kohima,” the LYO asserted.
