Newmai News Network Imphal | November 24 Liangmai organizations have stated that they will impose a 12-hour “total shutdown” along the National Highway-2 on November 27 if the Government of Manipur fails to arrest Kh Kasinba within 72 hours. Kh Kasinba is accused of raping and attempting to murder a 14-year old school girl at Viewland Colony, Senapati on August 1. Addressing a press conference today at Manipur Press Club in Imphal, Liangmaipui Naga Ruangdi, Manipur (Liangmai women union), Namdilong Women Development Society, Kanglatongbi and Liangmai Naga Katina Ruangdi (Liangmai student body) demanded that the State Government arrest the “culprit” within 72 hours or else they will go ahead with the 12-hour total shutdown of National Highway-2 from 6 am of November 27 followed by different forms of agitation. “The time to listen and pay heed to the request of the State Government is over,” said the Liangmai organizations. “We have given enough time to the State Government to arrest the culprit, and now we will take our own course of action,” they asserted. According to the Liangmai bodies, they had earlier planned to start agitation but owing to requests from the Chief Minister and other authorities of the State Government, they did not go ahead with their agitation. They said the State Government assured them the arrest of the “culprit” within a short period but till date nothing happened. “Now it is almost four months but the State Government could not arrest the culprit,” rued the Liangmai organizations. “It is a shame that such a high authority talking very big thing taking too long to arrest a rapist,” they maintained. According to the Liangmai bodies, the girl was actually left for death but fortunately she came to consciousness by the Grace of God. “Today, the victim doesn’t want to live,” they said. “She keeps asking about the status of the measures taken up by the State Government to arrest Kasinba,” they further said. The victim is now living with several scars, they added. On August 1 evening, the girl studying in Class 9 was found in an unconscious state at Viewland Colony of Senapati district headquarters. The victim is now surviving with multiple stitches in her head and hands after a month long treatment in a hospital in Imphal. The victim is carrying eight scars in her head and hands, they added.
