KOHIMA, OCTOBER 31(MExN): The Liangmai Welfare Society Kohima (LWSK) celebrated the Chaga Gadi festival honouring their cultural heritage under the banner ‘Our Culture Our Pride our Festival’ at Kruzo Park Tsiese Basa on October 31.
The festival, marking the completion of the agricultural year, is a vibrant expression of gratitude to God for bountiful blessings, harvest, and good health, stated a press release.
In his greetings, LWSK President Rutmakbo wished for the progress and prosperity of the Liangmai community.
Thunbuibo Zeliang, Assistant Professor at CIH, explained the festival’s significance, highlighting its role in strengthening unity, peace, and brotherhood while helping to preserve the community’s rich cultural heritage.
The celebration began with an invocation by Rev. N Silubo Zeliang, Pastor.
The event featured a Best Traditional Attire Competition for children, alongside traditional games like shot put and tug of war.
Er. Kewizun Zeliang, Treasurer of LWSK, proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was presided over by Bengkam Newmai, Sports Secretary of LWSK.
