LIC celebrates 60 years anniversary in Kohima

The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) Kohima Branch office celebrated the 60 years anniversary of LIC of India on September 1 at its office in Kohima with MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu as the chief guest.  

The welcome address was delivered by Shelphomran Khaling, Branch Manager, LICI, Kohima Branch who mentioned that LIC is India’s premier financial institution in true spirit of serving the people and nation, and mobilization of people’s money for people’s welfare.  

“Our 60 years of journey since September 1, 1956 has been a great achievement towards providing financial and emotional security to the people of India. LIC has also been making pioneering strides, since inception in 1956 in mobilizing precious small savings of the people for the overall development of the country. The total funds invested is Rs. 21,09, 253 crores as on March 2016 and Rs. 2,43,269 crores in Social sector where Nagaland is also a beneficiary,” added Khaling.  

While congratulating the LICI Nagaland Branch, Azo Nienu also lauded the efforts of the employees at LIC who walked the extra mile to make people’s lives better and helping them invest and save.  

“When you are going all out to make people’s lives better, people who are strangers to you, it is a wonderful thing,” said Nienu. Though you are doing well, I believe there is still room for improvement, added Nienu while also requesting the employees and workers to reach out to the remotest areas in Nagaland, to conduct seminars and awareness on the benefits of insurance and investment. “Life is so uncertain. Life is all about preparation. Life is not about where you are, how rich you are or how famous you are but life is all about being secure and that security comes from insurance,” concluded Nienu.  

The LIC today has 8 zonal offices, 113 divisional offices, 20148 branch offices, 1401 satellite offices, 1240 mini offices and foreign and international offices with a total employee strength of 1,14,773 and total agency force of 10, 61,560 and 30 crores policy holders with a total life fund of Rs. 20,57,625.38 crores set aside for policy holders payment.
