Dimapur, March 17 (MExN): The clan of Savi Liegise today condemned the “high handedness” of the Army in repeatedly raiding the residence of Liegise, “a prominent citizen and a public leader of repute.”
A press statement from the Convenor of Lievüse Clan Dimapur unit stated, “It is most unfortunate that the supposedly high profile Indian army having the highest intelligence network swayed by such an insignificant and wrong intelligent report conducted such a blatant and infamous repeated search, intruding upon the residence of an upright public leader whose credentials are unquestionable.”
It noted that the search was about purported ‘illegal weapon’ suspected to be in his possession, “but no weapon whatsoever were found which clearly exposed the unreliability of the source of information the army acted upon, whereby belittling the Indian army who claimed themselves to be of world class military.”
The Clan demanded that the Army apologise for causing “irreparable damage” to the reputation of the leader and also causing “untold psychological harm” to all the innocent family members, particularly the women and minor children for the “traumatic experience they went through by waking them up rudely at such wee-hour and to conduct body search on minor and females for weapon suspected to be hidden on their body.”
Declaring the action “totally inhuman and deplorable,” it asserted that the same should be condemned by every right thinking person.
