‘Lim Guard’ carnage: WSH demands Govt action

Dimapur, April 26 (MExN):  Frontal civil organizations of the Sumi community in the western areas have demanded immediate action from the Government of Nagaland after armed miscreants suspected to be from an organization called “lim guard” left a trail of terror and destruction on Honito village under Aqahuto in Dimapur on April 23 and the 25th.
The Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) and the Western Sumi Kukami Hoho (WSKH) visited Honito village and verified the incident and issued details of the destruction, looting and other carnage including the shooting of two persons, caused by suspected cadres of the said “lim guard.” The WSH issued a statement today detailing the destruction and strongly demanding immediate action from the Government of Nagaland to deploy Indian reserve Personnel at Honito, among others.
The ‘hoho’ has established that 33 houses were razed, out of which 13 houses and all properties in them were destroyed; two persons receiving bullet injuries – including one critically. In addition, two jeeps and a generator completely burned; all the villagers including children and women bound up and assaulted; Rs. 18, 000 looted and 7 mobile phones taken away; fours dogs and a pig killed.
The ‘hoho’ stated that the Forest Department had seized machetes, spears and sticks on the evening of April 23. On the 25th early in the morning around 4 AM, unidentified persons numbering more than hundred came to the village with full arms and dressed in black. The WSH said the marauders are suspected to be from what was called in the statement as “Lim Guard”.
The western Sumi organizations have demanded immediate response from the Government of Nagaland. They have demanded IRB personnel posted at Honito village. “Bishumpuikam village has erected war gates and defenses on both sides of the village to block the movement of other neighboring villages. This is an act of challenging other communities in the area,” the WSH said. The WSH and the WSKH have also demanded that the state release relief aid for the victims at the earliest.
