Limit cost for dengue test: MoHFW to private practitioners

Dimapur, August 4 (MEXN): The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Government of India has requested health establishments in the private sector not to charge more than Rs. 600 per test for dengue.  

Stating that often the number of dengue are reported cases during monsoon and post-monsoon and often people rushes to private health establishments, the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) issued the appeal.

Due to a sudden increase in cases, the community in panic go to private health facilities where many at times, they end up with high out of pocket expenditures for diagnosis and treatment, it said.  

In this regard, the Ministry through the NVBDCP has informed of the free diagnosis facility available with the government while it also asked to the private health sector to limit their charges and help in reducing the economic burden on the community.
