Dimapur, February 6 (MExN): Excise Mobile Squad Special Task Force constituted in view of the ensuing State general election seized 63 bottles of assorted liquor and 468 litres of country liquor on February 6 in Dimapur Town area. Offenders were booked for violation of various sections of NLTP Act 1989, informed a press release from Katoho Sumi, Superintendent of Excise & Prohibition (MS).
The bottled liquor were confiscated and deposited in the Mobile Squad Malkhana for destruction, while the latter was destroyed on the spot, according to the release. Stating that flow of illegal liquor is on the rise in view of the election, Katoho said to contain the same, field duty activities have been revamped and as such, the unit will continue to raid various locations in and around Dimapur.
In another incident, the Special Operation Team (SOT) of Dimapur Police conducted a surprise raid at one shop in Metha Colony and seized 100 cases of assorted IMFL on February 5. In this connection, one person identified as Rajesh Singh was arrested and a case vide Sub-Urban PS (Dmr) C/No. 005/18 U/S 44 (a) NLTP Act has been registered, according to a press release from Addl. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) cum Public Relation Officer, Dimapur.
