List of symbols of political parties

Kohima, January 6 (DIPR): In exercise of the provision under Section 57 of the Nagaland Municipal Act 2001, the State Election Commission (SEC), Nagaland has decided to adopt in principle the list of political parties specifying the names of recognized national and State parties, registered-unrecognized parties and list of free symbols of the Election Commission of India (ECI), as amended from time to time.  

Therefore, the following national parties, State parties and their symbols along with free symbols have been adopted by the State Election Commission of Nagaland for conduct of election to the Municipal/Town Council. Any party recognized in one State is granted concession for using its reserved symbol under Para 10 of the Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968. In such cases, the nomination of candidates set up by that party will also be required to be subscribed by one elector of the ward, as proposers.      

List of free symbols for registered-unrecognized parties and Independent candidates (In the case of registered-unrecognized parties, first preference is to be given to them for choice from among the list of free symbols): 1. Almirah, 2. Air Conditioner, 3. Auto- Rickshawz, 4. Bat, 5. Battery Torch, 6. Coat, 7. Dao, 8. Envelope, 9. Neck Tie, 10. Pressure Cooker, 11. Ring, 12. Shoe, 13. Walking Stick, 14. Whistle, 15. Window.
