LJP (Ram Vilas) Leader appeals for peace between Kuki and Chakhroma communities

Kohima, February 13 (MExN): S Richard Humtsoe, National Secretary of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), has appealed for peace, restraint and mutual understanding between the Kuki and Chakroma communities amid prevailing tensions.

In a statement issued on February 13, Humtsoe urged both communities to shun violence and hostility, stating that no grievance, however serious, can be resolved through bloodshed. He emphasised that India’s strength lies in its unity in diversity, and that every community’s history, culture and identity deserve respect, dignity and security.

Calling for dialogue over conflict, he appealed to community leaders, youth and elders to come together and resolve differences through peaceful discussions. He also urged people to reject rumours, avoid provocation and not be misled by divisive elements.

“Peace is not weakness—it is courage. Reconciliation is not surrender—it is wisdom,” he said, appealing to all concerned to maintain calm and work collectively toward lasting peace and mutual trust.
