LKM urges district administration to curb entry of undocumented migrants

CHUCHUYIMLANG, JULY 26 (MExN): In view of the ongoing eviction drive in neighbouring Assam, the Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM) has adopted a firm stance to safeguard the integrity of its jurisdiction.

On Friday, LKM officials held a consultative meeting with the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Tuli and later conducted an inspection of the Watiyongpang Police Border Check Gate to assess ground-level preparedness.

During the meeting, the student body urged the district administration to ensure that no ‘illegal immigrant’ or outsider without valid Inner Line Permit (ILP) documentation be allowed entry into the Langpangkong region. It also sought the deployment of additional security personnel in vulnerable areas beyond the Watiyongpang Gate to strengthen surveillance and curb unauthorised movement.

Following the meeting, LKM officials interacted with police personnel manning the check gate and stressed the need for stringent ILP verification protocols, reiterating that individuals without proper documentation must not be permitted entry.

The LKM stated it is closely monitoring the situation and will not tolerate any administrative lapse that could lead to the infiltration of undocumented individuals. It also warned that any confirmed case of illegal entry would be reported and dealt with in coordination with the concerned authorities.

In a joint statement, LKM president Imlinok and general secretary Meyitongpang said: “The LKM Office is closely monitoring the situation and will take prompt action in case of any breach. We remain committed to supporting the administration and law enforcement in safeguarding our land and people. However, if any official dereliction of duty is found, we will not remain silent.”

The LKM has also issued a public advisory, urging all residents under Langpangkong jurisdiction to refrain from sheltering or allowing entry to any outsider lacking a valid ILP. All affiliated LKM units have been instructed to remain alert, and Village Councils, Town Ward Unions, and the general public have been urged to cooperate and remain vigilant.
