Dimapur, February 24 (MExN): Following the launch of Long Lasting Insecticidal Net (LLINs) for Nagaland state on February 15, at District Hospital Dimapur, office of Urban Malaria Vector Borne Disease Scheme (UMVBDS) has launched the LLIN for Dimapur Urban Area with Dr, MA Wati, Chief Medical Officer, Dimapur as chief guest at East Police Colony on February 18.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr MA Wati CMO called upon the public to use the LLIN throughout the year. He also stated that the Menace of Malaria, Dengue, JE and others related vector born can be simultaneously controlled with the help of public, for which he advised the public to keep their surrounding and drainage need and clean.
While assistant Director - Urban Vector Borne Disease Scheme (UVBDS) Kikolul Khieya also stated that UVBDS will be covering the more than 100 colonies of Dimapur Urban in phase wise. Therefore he called upon the Council and GBs to positively co-operate with the Department. He also directed the public to follows the do’s and don’ts.
He also stated the LLINs which have insecticide incorporated in the fiber, which can kill mosquitoes and insects, which will be effective for 5 years without washing or upto 20 washes. He advised the public to wash the Nets with clean plain water and ask to dry in a shade area as and when required. He also advise the public not to use the net for fishing or other purpose other than personal or family protection, which is even safe for babies and pregnant women.
