LMFN calls for inclusive development

Dimapur, JULY 7 (MExN): The Linguistic Minority Forum of Nagaland (LMFN) has commended the newly elected representatives from the recent Urban Local Body (ULB) elections in Nagaland's urban areas and townships.

Bishnu Bhattacharjee, Chairman of LMFN, extended congratulations to Hukheto Yepthomi, the newly elected Chairman of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), and Imlinaro Stephanie Ezung, newly elected Deputy Chairman of DMC. "As a joint responsibility of the people and the newly elected members of the ULBs to work for the development and progress of the various urban areas of Nagaland, we are hopeful and anticipate a better future of ease and happiness," Bhattacharjee stated.

LMFN also expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister and the NDPP political party for issuing party tickets to two minority women candidates, Priyadarshini Rana from Ward 12 of Kohima Municipal Council and Krishna Mech from East Dimapur Ward 10. "We extend our full support and blessings," Bhattacharjee added, congratulating Krishna Mech on her victory from the Ward 10 seat under East Dimapur Town Council.

The LMFN President has appealed to the Chief Minister, elected members of ULBs, and government authorities to consider the coexistence of non-Naga minorities who settled in urban areas prior to statehood. "Including non-Naga linguistic minority leaders as government nominees can bring valuable ideas, knowledge, and experience to foster all-round development in urban sectors," he emphasized.
