ANEFWA inform zonal presidents
Kohima, January 3 (MExN): All the zonal presidents of All Nagaland Electricity Field Workers Association (ANEFWA) have been directed to report to the office of the headquarters of the ANEFWA at Kohima with progress report of the collection of arrear of revenue of power departments on January 11 positively without fail to discuss future course of steps and action on the basis of such report/data. This is for compliance and necessary action to all concerned, said ANEFWA president Panger Pongen in a note received here.
HASSU elects new office bearers
Dimapur, January 3 (MExN): The Highway Area Aumi Students’ Union (HASSU) during its 9th general conference held at Purana Bazar Sumi Baptist Church elected its new team of office bearers with Vikato Aye of Chekiye as President, Akai Aye of Thilixu as vice-president, Holloto K. Yepthomi as general secretary, Hitoli Zhimo as Finance Secretary and Itoka Aye of Padum Pukhuri as assembly speaker. This was informed in a press release issued by the HASSU general secretary.
Open Pcheda competition 2011
Kohima, January 3 (MExN): The Tragopan Club Viswema is organizing first open Pcheda competition 2011 on January 5 at Phuzwü, R Khel, Viswema village. The inaugural function will start from 9:30 AM onwards. Er. Toba Khatso, president SASA will be the chief guest while Er. Mezakrol Rhütso, chief engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control, Nagaland will be the chief patron.

Dimapur, January 3 (MExN): The training of the enumerators and supervisors for phase-II census operation 2011 for Tuensang district is scheduled from January 27 to 29. All the Sub-Divisional census charges are requested to conduct the training in their respective Sub-Divisional headquarters. In this regard, all the Charge Officers, Master Trainers, Supervisors, Enumerators and all officers engaged in Census Operation 2011 are requested to remain in station and the attend the training positively. This was informed in a press release issued by Y. L Jami, IAS, Principal Census Officer and Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang.
Tsg DPDB meeting on Jan 11
Dimapur, January 3 (MExN): The monthly District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting for the month of January 2011 for Tuensang will be held on January 11. The DC has informed in a press release that the main agenda for the meeting will be on Second Phase Census Operation 2011 and work distribution for the forthcoming January 26, 2011 Republic Day Celebration. All head of the Departments in the district are requested to attend the meeting in person without fail.
Visa Tsunuomia Krotho meeting
Kohima, January 3 (MExN): The Visa Tsunuomia Krotho will hold its annual meet-cum-picnic on January 5 at Kisama at 10:00 AM. The highlights of the programme will be mass prayer and exhortations by elders, introductions of new members, awards & certificates for academic excellences during 2009-10 & other meritorious achievements, gift exchanges (worth ` 500/- & above) from every families, games for children, which will be followed by a grand feast hosted by Sizo Kiso & family. All the concerned have been requested to come in time.

Landslide control at Noklak town

A vast and extensive area of land located on the south-west of Noklak town is under landslide hazard. This has badly affected utility services like roads, human settlements and other properties. If left untreated, the whole town is likely to be damaged by this menace, according to the state’s department of soil and water conservation in its annual administrative report. Thus, considering the enormity of the problem, the report said, the department has taken up landslide and soil erosion control measures to contain and prevent further damage to the area.
The report added that during 2009-10, an expenditure of ` 200.00 lakh was incurred for construction of 700 units of conservation structures, 3000 Rmt. drainage channels and 4500 Ha. of land brought under afforestation.
