Vice Chancellor NU notifies  

Dimapur, May 18 (MExN):
The Vice Chancellor, NU has declared that candidate Kangzangding Thou is professionally qualified for the degree of doctor of philosophy (Ph. D) in English of Nagaland University. “This is subject to rectification by the academic and executive council of the University,” the VC said in a notification. The topic of the thesis id ‘A comparative study of themes in Zeliang and selected African folktales’ and is supervised by Dr. A. J Sebastian Sdb.

BLO’s training at Phek

Phek, May 18 (DIPR):
The Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Phek has informs all the Booth Level Officers in Phek district, that a training on Booth Level Officers will be held at district level on May 20 and 21 at the DPDB Conference Hall, DC’s Office Phek at 11 a.m. for implementation of Electoral Photos Identity Cards (EPIC) and Photo Electoral Role (PER) as directed by the Election Commission of India. Therefore, the DC has requested all the Booth Level Officers in Phek district to attend the training without fail.

Photography Phase–I for Mon

Mon, May 18 (DIPR):
The Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Mon informs that Photography Phase – I for Mon district will commence from June 1 to 26, 2011. The detail schedule constituency wise will be circulated within a short period. In this regard training for AERO/BLO/supervisor is fixed on May 30 at the Conference’s hall of the Deputy Commissioner at 11:00 am.  All the AEROs/BLOs/Supervisors of the 9 (nine) Assembly Constituencies are directed to attend the training programme without fail.

Enhulumi Village Beekeeping Committee formed

Dimapur, May 18 (MExN):
The Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM) organized a basic course on scientific methods of beekeeping and skills up-gradation on May 16 and 17 at Enhulumi Village under Phek District. The Village Council Chairman (VCC) and Village Development Board (VDB) in a press release acknowledged that department and the resource person who is the Phek District team leader for providing tools and necessary equipments to the trainees. Later, the Enhulumi Village Beekeeping Committee (EVBC) was formed headed by Kekhrowe Tsido, Kerelhi Lohe and Wekhate Elah as Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer respectively.

KSU seizes IMFL

Wokha, May 18 (MExN):
The Kyong Students’ Union (KSU) in co-ordination with Wokha Town Commander, Wokha, Eloe Hoho and Kyong Hoho ceased 3343 bottles of different brands of IMFL on May 2 and later burnt it on May 3. KSU President, Subenthung Kithan in a press release appreciated the Wokha Town Commander Wokha (NSCN - IM) for taking pro-active on ceasing those intoxicating substances.

Training for Booth Level Officers Kohima

Kohima, May 18 (MExN):
In Pursuant of the office of the Chief Electoral Officer’s Order NO.ELE/PER-9/2011/PT dated 09/05/2011, the District Level Training for all the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) with the newly appointed BLO of Kohima District in connection with taking of photographs of all electors for preparation of photo Elector Rolls (PER) will be conducted on 20 May, at 10.30 am at Zonal council Hall. A press release issued by Alun Hangsing, Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Electoral Registration Officer stated that Formal appointment letters can be collected from the HoDs in case of Kohima Town and the offices of the outpost Administrative Officers respectively.  It also mentioned that DEO, ERO and AEO Kohima shall impart training. It further stated that all appointed officials are deemed to be on deputation to the Election Commission of India and are liable to its discipline and control. All are directed to attend the training without fail.

Sumi Theological Association informs

Dimapur, May 18 (MExN):
The Sumi Theological Association will host its annual session at Kiyekhu Baptist Church from May 20 to 22 with theme ‘called to witness.’ The main speakers are Rev Dr. Joshua Rochill, president, STA, Dr Daniel Chishi, Associate pastor, SBAZ, Kihoshe pastor Sapoti B/C. Er Ghukhui Zhimo, executive engineer, irrigation Dimapur and Kughaho Zhimo, senior accountant officer (Horti) will exhort the gathering. STA president also informed in a press release that there will be paper presentation in various issues confronting the church and its ministries. All the theological graduates, students who are in the ministry are invited to attend the session.

NNC Lotha Region celebrates 60th Plebiscite Day

Dimapur, May 18 (MExN):
The NNC Lotha Region, like the other regional units of Nagaland celebrated the 60th Plebiscite Day on May 16. The occasion was marked by Thanksgiving to the Almighty God for his unceasing providence, where Yilow Humtsoe, Vice-president NNC Lotha Region chaired the function. The function was a grand success with an encouraging turn out of all the region’s executives and members. Yilow Humtsoe reminded the gathering that “The Nagas have nothing in common with India and do not share a history, in addition to racial differences Nagas being from Mongoloid race having a unique identity of their own”. This was stated in a press note issued by NNC Lotha Region Vice-president.
