Young talented artistes receive award
Kohima, May 29 (MExN): Three young artists Thungbemo (Painting), Neichüsalhou Tepa (Painting) and Athrong Yimchunger (Painting) have been conferred with the prestigious Young Talented Artistes Award 2010-2011. This award was instituted by NEZCC with an objective to identify and encourage the young talents for further creative pursuit. The recipients carried Rs. 10,000 each along with citation, which was distributed by K. Kughazhe Yeputhomi, director, art & culture at a function held here today at State Library.
DC Kohima appeals
Kohima, May 29 (DIPR): In view of the Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) which shall begin from June 1, Deputy Commissioner, Kohima Bei-u Angami has appealed to all the Chairmen/Panchayat members and GBs of respective colonies to assist the Booth Level Officers during the photo operations.
HIV/AIDS advocacy campaign held
Dimapur, May 29 (MExN): One-day Constituency Level on HIV/AIDS advocacy campaign was held at Chukitong on May 25. The programme was organized by LFA in collaboration with CYSA Wokha. The Village Council Members, GBs, DBs, VDB, Church leaders, Women leaders, Youth and public attended the programme. The programme was chaired by Albert Ezung EAC Chukitong. Abeno Mor (LFA) Highlighted the activities of LFA, Dr. Vinito L Chishi , State co-ordinator LFA Kohima spoke on HIV/AIDS and STI with slide presentation . Elhibemo Patton PRO Agape presented the HIV/AIDS scenario of Wokha District, Robin Ezung President CYSA spoke on the service, facilities available, Lochumi Lotha spoke on the stigma, and discrimination in relation to HIV/AIDS. Dr. Nyan Kikon interacted with the gathering on HIV/AIDS, informed a press note issued by president of CYSA Wokha Robin Ezung.
ASUK condemns assassination attempt
Dimapur, May 29 (MExN): The Ao Students’ Union Kohima (ASUK) strongly condemns and denounces the assassination attempt on the life of M. Imtila Jamir, Registrar, Co-operative Societies (retired) on May 27 in her residence at Kohima by armed miscreants. ASUK in a condemnation note stated that the cowardice and barbaric act of the armed miscreants meted towards one of the most respectable retired government official such as her is shocking and shameful. All sensible Nagas should strongly condemn such incident. The Union also strongly urges the law enforcing agency to apprehend the culprits and book them as per the law of the land by earliest means. Further, the ASUK shares their profound sorrow and sympathy to the injured families and prays for early recovery.
NSF presidential council on June 1
Dimapur, May 29 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has informed all the concerned presidents of every federating unit and subordinate bodies of NSF that the first meeting of the presidential council is convened on June 1at the NSF conference hall at 11:00 am. NSF secretary information & publicity, Vipe Domeh in a press release sated that the August council will discuss matters and agenda pertaining to the proposed NSF itinerary programme to officially tour all the Naga inhabited areas for wider consultation and interaction with the general public. The NSF while renewing its pledge to commit for the cause of the Nagas has proposed to frontward its tour in accordance with the fundamental duties of the Federation to uphold, defend and cohesively work for the Naga Unity and integrity irrespective of territorial division.
ANPSTA, Phek unit elects new team
Kohima, May 29 (MExN): The All Nagaland Pre-Service Teachers’ Association (ANPSTA) Phek unit has conducted a short meeting cum election of new office bearers for the tenure 2011-12. The association has elected Zewete Khape as president, vice president- Obed Yhobu, general secretary - Akhobu, assistant general secretary- Kezhokhayi, treasurer- Neiwetsolo-ü, publicity information secretary – Zechete Kreo and Menetsho-ü.
CSU conducts HSLC felicitation programme
Kohima, May 29 (MExN): The Chiechama Students’ Union (CSU) has conducted 13th HSLC felicitation programme on May 21 last at the village council gall. Khrienuo C. Metha graced the occasion as chief patron while Mhalezolie Metha, chairman Chiechama Village Council exhorted the students. Speaking on the occasion, the chief patron challenged the students to have determination and lead an exemplary life so as to compete and succeed in this competitive world. Altogether, 53 CSU members pass-out the HSLC examination 2011. Meanwhile, the Union congratulated its member Kevilekho Zumvü for winning the coveted title of Nagaland Chess Championship (A) 2011.

DIS Dimapur informs
Dimapur, May 29 (MExN): The deputy inspector of school, Dimapur has informed the primary teachers having requisite qualification of 10+2 who are willing to undergo Certificate for Primary Teachers Education (CPTE) and nor PSTE to submit their names along with the Xerox copy of appointment order latest by June 15 to the office of the DIS Dimapur. The DIS also stated in the press release that it is further clarifies the course PSTE written in the appointment letter be treated as CPTE and not as PSTE.
‘Saakshar Bharat’ prog held in Longleng
Longleng, May 29 (DIPR): Village Level Training on Saakshar Bharat was held at EBRC Longleng and EBRC Tamlu town on May 25 and 26 organized by the State Resource Center Tripura in collaboration with the State Literary Mission Authority Nagaland.
The main resource person was Director (SRG) Tripura, Pandosh Datta who spoke on the topic ‘Saakshar Bharat’. The Director said that the programme is a centrally sponsored scheme under the Department of Education and Ministry of Human Resource Development of India. He gave guidance and directives to impart education to non-literate from 15 years and above and especially for women.
EAC Longleng, Rhosietho Nguoh and SDO (C) Tamlu, T. Wati Aier who also delivered short speeches advised all the members present to co-operate and to handle the scheme judiciously provided by the government and to implement it successfully so as to impart education for the upliftment of the living condition of the society.
Village Council Chairmen and village Education Chairman from all the villages and officers and staff from the Education Department attended the programme.
