Local food show and cooking contest mark Poshan Pakhwada in Dimapur

Dimapur, March 17 (MExN): As part of the celebration of Poshan Pakhwada, local food show and cooking competition was held at Sematilla Council Hall on March 15.

In the cooking competition, Lhomithi Anganwadi bagged the 1st price (Millet with butter) while the 2nd position was bagged by Xuvihe Anganwadi (Perila with mushroom). The winners were given cash prizes, citation and all the other participants were also acknowledged with citations. The judges for the cooking competition were DPRO, Lolano Patton, ADPMC (RD-NSRLM) Yimok Phom and Area Coordinator NSRLM, Medosenu, stated a DIPR report. 

Earlier, Yimok Phom highlighted on tribal, traditional, regional and local dietary practices on nutrition and stressed on the need for promoting nutrition through the diverse locally available nutritional sources.

“Northeast cuisines are very rich in protein and essential nutrients and can be promoted by healthier eating habits, preserved culinary heritage and support local economics and ecosystems,” she maintained. 

Supervisor Kalivi who chaired the programme, in her brief note informed that Poshan Pakhwada is being celebrated in the month of March for 15 days every year, for addressing multifaceted challenges related to nutrition and Health. She also said that Poshan Pakhwada aims to raise awareness about the importance of nutrition and to promote healthy eating habits.

The programme was organised under the aegis of CDPO office Dimapur (Urban).
