SKK demands immediate clarification on the ‘real objectives’ of “Limtsung Party”
Dimapur July 16 (MExN): It is reported that a teacher attached to the Government Primary School, Sikiur-B, Anatager Village under Tuensang district, was brutally assaulted by a local vigilante group that goes by the name ‘Limtsung Party’. The victim, identified as Kiyeho Sema was taken away blindfolded, to a jungle by a group of ‘Limtsung Party’ members where the teacher was brutally assaulted till he lost consciousness, it was informed.
According to the All Sumi Students Union (SKK), GPS Teacher Kiyeho was asked to meet Limtsung Party members at Anatager Village on July 8. Complying with the directive, the teacher along with his friends went to meet the members of the said party. Then, Kiyeho’s friends were asked to bring the GBs and public leaders of Sikiur ‘B’ after which the teacher was taken away into a jungle where he was blindfolded, tied and beaten mercilessly till he lost consciousness.
According to the Sumi students’ organization, prior to the assault-incident, ‘Limtsung Party’ had collected ‘tax’ from teacher Kiyeho and later again was asked “for financial assistance”. The SKK informed that Kiyeho was tortured because he took part in hosting the SKK General Conference at Sikiur village way back in the month of January 2005. It was informed that Limtsung Party was formed a few years back to “protect” local land areas of the Tikhir community. “However, they are functioning beyond their stipulated activities and provisions. They are trying to exercise their powers and functions (beyond provisions)” SKK president Hetoi Chishi said.
Meanwhile, the All Sumi Students Union (SKK), reacting sharply to the assault of GPS Teacher Kiyeho, has demanded immediate clarification from the Tikhir frontal organizations as well as from the administrative head of the district in regard to the functions and objectives of Limtsung Party. “All Sumi Students Union being Sumi non-governmental organization is always looking forward to seek for better co-ordination and closer relationship with the rest of Naga brethren as we feel our expected future can be arrived only through peaceful means of co-existence” a statement from the SKK appended by president Hetoi Chishi said adding that the SKK General conference was held in Sikiur Village with a view to bring about better understanding among neighboring communities of the area.
“To our dismay, this unfortunate incident bears no constructive or concrete reason. Thus we are compelled to suggest for the immediate dissolution of Limtsung Party, if the party is not meant for the welfare of the people” the SKK stated and demanded and immediate clarification from the Tikhir organizations and administrative heads regarding the reasons the Vigilante group was formed and its objectives, “whereby possibilities of mass misunderstanding may be timely averted”, it added.
It may be added here that the SKK has also intimated the Sumi Hoho, Sumi GBs Union and Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang district, of the assault of the GPS teacher.
