Locally made detergent powder 'Tsunglup' in Wokha launched

DIMAPUR, JULY 2 (MExN): Team Metamorphosis in collaboration with the Wokha District Administration under the Bedi Bachaao Bedi Padhao scheme launched the detergent washing powder ‘Tsunglup’ on June 27.


A press release from Team Metamorphosis informed that this was an initiative of the team for Women empowerment targeting the marginalized section. The detergent powder is being made by the members of the team along with women SHGs based in and around Wokha town. Team Metamorphosis learnt the art from Kehinye; a prominent women SHG from Tseminyu town.


Since the last 3 years, the team has been in activities for the uplift of the most marginalized and lesser privileged women and youth through skill development training like detergent making, paper bags making, electrification, live sound system management, micro financing etc. All these activities have been aimed at promoting self-reliance.


The team also distributed sanitary pads free of cost to the marginalized women for which the team Metamorphosis was collaborated by the Serendip Guardians in collaboration with the Humans of Nagaland on the campaign ‘Tackling Period Poverty during COVID-19. This campaign is aimed at distributing free sanitary pads to seven thousand women for 3 months.


Gracing the function at the Team Metamorphosis office, Imtijungla Longkumer, EAC, Wokha Sardar expressed happiness that the local people are actively participating in the production of local materials for self-reliance.


Attending the function were also nine students of NEISSR Dimapur who were interning with Team Metamorphosis after which they learnt making the detergent powder. They were also assigned to assist the team in locating the beneficiaries for the sanitary pads.
