Kohima, June 3 (MExN): Counting observers from the Election Commission of India (ECI), Manoj Chakraborty, SCS from West Bengal and T Padmavathi, SCS from Telengana today visited Deputy Commissioner's office, Kohima and held a meeting with the AROs under Kohima District.
The counting of votes for 2024 Lok Sabha election will take place across the country on June 4.
In the meeting, Kohima DC briefed the preparation done for the counting process. Randomisation of counting supervisors, counting assistants, micro observers, tabulators and computer assistants were reviewed by the Counting Observers at Video Conferencing Hall, DC Office Kohima.
Strong rooms and counting halls were also surveyed by the Counting Observers.
Meanwhile, the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland and State Police Nodal Officer will hold a joint press conference at 5:00 PM on June 4 at AWO Ki, Kohima regarding counting for 18th Lok Sabha Election, 2024, Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency.
Further, it was informed that counting of votes under Kohima district for 18th Lok Sabha Election 2024, Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency will start from 8: 00 AM onwards at Deputy Commissioner office, Kohima.
Kohima DC Kumar Ramnikant informed that there will be four counting halls with DC’s Court for 8th Western Angami A/C, DRDA office- 9th Kohima Town A/C, DC conference Hall-10th Northern Angami-I AC and 11th Northern Angami- II A/C and DPDB hall for 14th Southern Angami- I AC and 15th Southern Angami -II AC.
Mon: Counting observers for the General Election to the Lok Sabha Election 2024-1 Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency, briefed on the roles and responsibilities of the micro observers at Council Hall, Mon Town on June 3.
The Observers were Madhavi Sardeshmukh, MSN Babu and Sowmya N Gowda. They urged the micro observers to be responsible and not to make any mistakes. They also added that the micro observers are the eyes and hands of the observers on the counting day, stated a DIPR report.
Also, in view of the counting process of the General Election to the Lok Sabha, 2024 which is scheduled on 4th June 2024, Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, held a co-ordination meeting to review the preparation of counting on 1st June 2024, at Deputy Commissioner’s office chamber, Mon. the meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police, Assistant Returning Officer (AROs) (41- 48 & 55 ACs), administrative officers/nodal officers and others concerned.
Pughoboto: As the country gears up for counting of polls of the 18th Lok Sabha Election 2024, Pughoboto Election District conducted the second & final phase training for Counting Supervisors, Counting Assistants and Main Tabulator on 3rd June, 2024.
The training was convened in the presence of Counting Observer for Pughoboto, Siddharth Yadav, UP SCS-15 batch and engineers from the Election Commission of India along with district officials consisting of ADC & DEO, Tiameren Chang, SDO (C) & Assistant Returning Officer, R Daniel Angami, SDPO Hankiumong and EAC, Khriethozo Pfukri.
Master trainer, Khekavi Kiny demonstrated counting of EVMs to the counting officials while master trainer Esther Lotha demonstrated the counting of VVPATs. SDO (C) & ARO, R Daniel Angami briefed the counting officials for ensuring an orderly and efficient counting process.
Kiphire: In view of the counting of votes in connection to general election to Lok Sabha 2024, scheduled on June 24, the Deputy Commissioner & DEO Kiphire has notified all the Presiding Officers to be stationed in District Head Quarter on the counting day, in case of seeking clearance or any discrepancies arises during the counting process in their respective assigned Polling station.
