Longleng adopts ‘Tobacco Free Office’ policy

Longleng, April 21 (MExN): With the intention of effectuating the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) in a rigorous manner within the district, the Deputy Commissioner Longleng, Dharam Raj has informed that all government offices situated within Longleng district shall be deemed as ‘Tobacco free offices.’

This decision was taken during a meeting of the District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) held on April 17, at conference hall of DC Longleng office, under the chairmanship of the DC and NTCP chairman Longleng, stated a DIPR report.

All government establishments have been directed to implement the ‘Tobacco Free Office’ policy within a period of 100 days from the date of this notification, it stated.

Furthermore, the DLCC has decided to establish a ‘Tobacco Control Cell’ in each government office located in Longleng district. It will be the responsibility of this cell to ensure the implementation of the ‘Tobacco free office’ policy, it added.

“The order be enforced with immediate effect, and all concerned authorities have been requested to take all necessary measures to ensure compliance with the aforementioned decision. Any violation of this order shall be dealt with in accordance with the applicable legal provisions,” the DC Longleng cautioned.
