Longleng DEO’s building specifics raise worry

Dimapur, August 2 (MExN): The District Congress Committee of Longleng is questioning the “intention” and “expertise” of the people who are engaged in constructing the office building of the District Education Officer in Longleng. The impression from the works point to lack of proper ground planning and expertise, the DCC committee of Longleng stated in a note today.
In fact, the unit said, the building’s first floor’s floor is so thin ““we don’t think any sensible employee in the future will risk their lives sitting under such building.”
“We question the intention and expertise of those people who are responsible to bring the construction into completion. To our observation and assessment so far, the impression it gives is the lack of proper ground works and negligence of continuous assessment of work, ignoring the basic building specifications and designs,” the DCC’s note stated.
An instance of the “impression” from the construction works on the Longleng DEO’s building the DCC gave was the thickness of the first floor’s “slab”. It is “objectionably thin”, the DCC stated. If the work process is not checked with a sense of urgency “we don’t think any sensible employee in the future will risk their lives sitting under such building which has no guarantee of standing for long; the danger is imminent,” the DCCI stated.
The DCC demands “immediate responsibility for rectification” and if necessary “even to the point of demolishing this slow-paced building process.” The Congress unit advises the people in concern to leave aside their personal interests and focus on the welfare of the people. The DCC also appealed to the district administration and heads of departments in concern to step in and look into the matter immediately. Otherwise, the unit said, the DCC would be compelled to take necessary legal measures to stop the works on the building.
