
Longleng, March 25 (MExN): Orientation training for Para Legal Volunteers (PLV) and Panel Lawyers of Longleng district was held at the DC Conference Hall organised by Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) in association with Longleng District legal Services Authority.
Tucano Vamuzo, Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary of Longleng DLSA delivered the welcome address followed by ice breaking session administered by Advocate Esther K Aye, Legal Aid Counsel & Trainer, NSLSA.
Alemwapang Ao, Legal Aid Counsel & Trainer, NSLSA spoke on the role and duties of PLVs and highlighted on Article 39A emphasizing on Right to free legal aid and PLVs to work as legal missionary towards access to justice for the poor and the needy.
Limasenla Longkumer, Legal Aid Counsel & Trainer, NSLSA presented presentation on Motor Vehicle Accident Claims and the Role of PLVs to assist such victims to file for compensation in the Motor Accident Claim Tribunals, the duty of PLVs to create awareness to the vehicle owners on the Third party Insurance and why it is mandatory.
Limhathung Ezong, Legal Aid Counsel & Trainer, NSLSA made presentation on various consumer mechanisms to the PLVs and Rights of consumer and its responsibilities under Consumer Protection Act.
Practical on writing petition, complain and FIR was presented by Alemwapang Ao, and trained the PLVs on how to draft effective and efficient FIR and RTI application.
Limasenla Longkumer trained the PLVs and Panel lawyers on ways and means for approaching and seeking various Government Welfare Schemes targeted for women, children, disabled persons and senior citizens. Esther K Aye, Legal Aid Counsel & Trainer, NSLSA presented a role play on domestic violence. She also defined trafficking and victims of trafficking.
Limhathung Ezong, Legal Aid Counsel & Trainer, conducted practical session on record keeping and maintenance of daily register by the PLVs in the Front Office. A group discussion led by Limhathung Ezong was discussed on Seven NALSA Schemes in the form of questionnaires in group wise.
Phuleto Yepto, Mokokchung DLSA Secretary exhorted on the role of the Legal Services Authority towards access to justice for the marginalized people especially in Nagaland. Most importantly he stressed on the Victim Compensation Scheme and how the victims of rape should be given protection and assistance by various stakeholders. An interaction session concluded the training programme. The programme was attended by PLVs, Panel lawyers, Abraham, Asst. Public Prosecutor.
