Longleng dist supports ENPO demand

Dimapur, January 12 (MExN): The public rally on the issue of “Demand for Separate State-Frontier Nagaland” called by ENPO was also held at Longleng district, at the Local Ground, Longleng Town on January 7. Around 5000 public from all the Phom villages with council members and students attended the same. The rally was organised by PPC under the aegis of the ENPO.
PPC Executive Member, Y. B Angam chaired the rally. PPC President Hamyei Phom delivered the welcome address. ENPO, Vice President, Chingmak Chang in his keynote address said that the demand for “Separate State” is not new and ENPO will never abandon the will of the people. He also warned both internal and external forces in taking advantage of our demand and it’s not against any political parties, factions or community. Frontier Nagaland will be achieved in a peaceful and democratic way. Bangtick Phom, Public Leader also gave a short speech where he encouraged the public to be strong in the coming trying days and the time has come for us to seek our rights.
Oditemba Phom, Ex-MLA also said that this demand is genuine and NEFA is the history witness and Eastern Nagas were under NEFA Tuensang Frontier Division and joined Nagaland only during the formation of the present Nagaland State. Time has come for us to move from downstairs to upstairs. Metpong Phom, Ex-Minister also stated that erstwhile undivided Tuensang was also discriminated especially in the allocation of fund and development.
Longleng Town Students’ Union also favoured the Rally with a patriotic song titled “Frontier Nagaland”. Longleng Town Gospel Team also presented a special number. Shamthai Phom, President, Phomla Hoichem also endorsed the demand for Frontier Nagaland on behalf of the womenfolk and it is a long due demand. Chongphe Angh, Finance Secretary ENSF also extended full support for the demand and highlighted the discrimination against Eastern Nagaland especially on the implementation of the job reservation and other developmental activities and urge the students to take active part in this demand of the public as future is of the students and youth. Bechung Khiam, Jt. Secretary ENPO stated that the demand will be achieved in due course of time and urged the people to unite and jointly fight for our rightful demand. Manlang Phom, President, PSC also endorsed the demand on behalf of the students and highlighted the poor employment of Eastern Nagas in Govt. Services and lack of actual development.
B.S. Nganlang, Public Leader endorsed the demand for Frontier Nagaland on behalf of the Phom Community and urged the ENPO and its Frontal Units to work steadfastly in fulfilling the aspiration of the Peoples’ Movement. The gathering raised their hand in support of the demand for Frontier Nagaland and endorsed full support to the ENPO in advancing the aspiration of the public. The Rally then proceeded to DC Office and submitted a copy of the Memorandum and held a short service at the NST Junction.
