Longleng, November 9 (MExN): The District Level Committee for Poshan Abhiyaan was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner Longleng John Tsulise Sangtam on November 8 at DC’s conference hall.
It was stated in a DIPR report that addressing at the first meeting of the District Level Committee the DC & Chairman DLC spoke on the convergence activities of the different departments under Poshan Abhiyaan. Briefing on the different levels of committee which consisted of National, State, District, Block and village level committee on Poshan Abhiyaan the DC emphasized on the roles and responsibility of the various levels and the convergence departments to streamline their activities for effective implementation of the Poshan Abhiyaan programme at the National level. He said its aim was to ensure holistic development and adequate nutrition for pregnant women, mothers and children. The deputy commissioner clarified to the queries raised by the members under the convergence activities of the respective department for a common goal.
After a detail discussion the members felt it necessary to endorse the block level committee to go ahead with their activities. Accordingly it was decided to endorse the Block level committee to carry out their activities at the earliest to complete it with the given timeframe.
It may be mentioned here that Poshan Abhiyaan is a multi-ministerial convergence mission with the vision to ensure attainment of malnutrition free India by 2022.
