Longleng DPDB meet discusses May 1 calamity

• 644 houses damaged • Eight schools severely damaged • Electricity supply affected   Longleng, May 9 (DIPR): The Longleng monthly DPDB meeting was held on May 6 under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman DPDB Longleng, Y. Denngan Avennoho Phom.   The DC highlighted the damages caused by recent hailstorm in the district and informed the house that Longleng district was severely affected by the natural calamities which occurred on May 1, 2016.   SDO (C) gave a report that he along with his colleagues surveyed the area and found out that the number of houses damaged were 644, where 343 were minor, 245 were severe and 56 houses were completely destroyed. The house was also appraised that JE (Electrical) along with his staff worked tirelessly for resumption of power supply in the District.   The Deputy District Education Officer (DDEO) explained that functioning of regular classes could not be held, due to severe damage. Accordingly applications were received from eight schools which were verified by the DC and DDEO.  

The identified schools are namely GHS Ngengching Longleng; GHS Yachem Longleng; GMS Pupei Longleng; GMS Block Longleng; GPS Tongpen Longleng; GPS Pongo Sec-B Longleng; GPS Yongnyah Sec-B Longleng and GPS Yachem Longleng. The house has decided to forward it to the Director of School Education for further necessary action.
