Longleng, April 14 (MExN): The monthly Longleng District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting, held on April 14 focused on key issues including land acquisition for National Highway projects, upcoming census operations, and district-level planning for Viksit Nagaland @2047.
Chairing the meeting and deliberating on adoption of the National Highways Act, 1956 for land acquisition, Deputy Commissioner W Manpai Phom informed that discussions between civil society organisations and the Government are ongoing, with a decision expected shortly.
On census preparedness, the house was informed that the first phase of the census will commence from July 1, with district-level training to be conducted soon.
To this end, DC Manpai urged all Heads of Departments (HoDs) to remain stationed and actively participate, noting the crucial role of officials in ensuring smooth conduct of the exercise.
The meeting also discussed preparations for the district stakeholders’ consultation on Viksit Nagaland @2047, scheduled for April 17. Nodal Officer and EAC Longleng, Er Vinoh Swu, briefed the house on the initiative, urging all departments to present inputs based on five thematic pillars—economic, social, environment, infrastructure, and governance. Departments have been directed to complete data analysis and review ongoing schemes ahead of the consultation.
Earlier, the board reviewed the minutes of the previous meeting, including a proposal for the establishment of Government Primary School (GPS) Anaki (C), which has been forwarded to the concerned department for approval.
The Department of PWD (R&B) presented its activities through a PowerPoint presentation, while the Department of Soil and Water Conservation was entrusted to present in the next meeting.
Meanwhile, the DC further stressed the need for effective implementation of government schemes and directed district-level coordination committees to take proactive measures.
As per the State DIPR, he also cautioned against absenteeism, urging officials to remain at their place of posting and discharge their responsibilities diligently.
