Longleng, January 24 (MExN): National Girls Child Day was celebrated on January 24 at DC’s Conference hall, Longleng. The programme was organized by District Task force on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Longleng with Shamthai Phom, President, Phomla Hoichem as special guest and attended by Government officials, NGOs, Phom Student Conference and Nehru Yuva Kendra volunteers.
The special guest highlighted on the significance of National Girls Child Day and spoke on the importance of girl education and women empowerment. Two meritorious girl students namely Nyumeila Phom and Esther Moithei Phom were awarded with scholarship under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme. Further, cash incentives were also given to eleven female children born at the District Hospital, Longleng.
The programme was chaired by Kevingoto Kulnu EAC Sakshi. Short speech was delivered Longleng DC Y. Denngan Avennoho Phom, NCS and Chairman of District Task force Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. Special song was presented by Chingyau Phom and friends, while Lejei Phom of Good Shepherd School, Longleng recited the poem written by Bina Gupta ‘Dreams of Today’s Girl Child.’ Temsusenla SDEO Longleng proposed the vote of thanks.
