Longsa Eagle Club donates blood at IMDH

As Nagaland partook in World Blood Donors Day, members of the Longsa Eagle Club (LEC) turned up in huge number and donated blood at the Blood Bank of Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) here today. The noble gesture of the Longsa Eagle Club was done as part of the yearlong Golden Jubilee celebration of the club which will culminate on December, 2017, said a club member.  

The World Blood Donors Day, which was held on the theme 'Give the gift of life: donate blood', jointly organized by Blood Bank IMDH, DAPCU and Mokokchung Voluntary Blood Donors Association (MVDBA).  

At a short programme before the blood donation camp, the MS of IMDH, Dr Medem highly appreciated the Longsa Eagle Club for their noble understanding and coming forward to donate their blood which might save a patient's life. Saying that human blood cannot be replicated by any means, Dr Medem said that blood donation is the only means through which a patient can get their needed blood. He also urged the club members to get their registered so that they can continue to donate blood at regular intervals, and especially at times of catastrophes when the demand of blood is the highest.  

The convener of Golden Jubilee celebration organizing committee, Bendangwati highlighted about the Longsa Longsa Eagles Club and its different activities. he said that the club was established in the year 1967 with its headquarter in Longsa village of Mokokchung District consists of more than 700 hundred families spread across different towns in the state.  

As part of its year-long Golden Jubilee celebration, the club has earmarked different activities both at the village and also in the different towns, of which today's blood donation was one of such activity. The yearlong activities will culminate in December this year, said Bendangwati.  

The Ao Senden President, Imliyanger Jamir who is also a member of the Longsa Eagles Club was the first person to donate blood the blood today. The club members residing in other towns and cities also donated blood in their respective towns to mark the event.  

The IMDH Blood Bank In-charge, Dr Chubala also highlighted about the significance of the world blood donors day also about the importance of blood donation at the programme.  

Representatives from the NSACS, NACO and Mokokchung Voluntary Blood Donors Association were also present at the programme.
